welcome to our Society
Created in 1986, we are a locally run Society started by a small group of individuals interested in researching Family History.
Originally with a focus on Keighley, it soon became apparent that there was significant interest from the outlying districts. Through this interest the Society gradually expanded and now covers quite a large area of the County of Yorkshire, especially North Yorkshire. This area can be seen in detail by visiting the page 'Area Covered'.
We now have a wide network of members from various countries around the globe and communicate with them regularly via the Journal, the Internet and the Exchange Journals we receive from other Societies.
Family history is the focus of our research, helping members to find out details of their own families.
We are a member of the Federation of Family History Societies, being willing to promote their aims and help and encourage those who share the same interests as we do.
